At this rate they’re going to do another Lulu but with Elton.

I keep coming back to this. This one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. It's wild to think about how Metallica linked with Elton John like this. For Years my music library would rotate between Metallica and Elton John. Two totally different styles of music, but there's something about both artist's that coincide's with another. It's not about how technically good you are in the song business. It's about the songs and how they can fill your soul.

I must say after reading some comments, you guys really overrate Charlie’s voice. He’s pretty basic in terms of technical ability and tone when you compare him to other males in the industry these days.

This was an awesome performance by Metallica! I favor this version over of any of Elton's. But if you see any of the other performances of EJ's songs from that night by other artists, it seems the crowd appreciation level was higher (especially during the performances). Must be because it's not a metal/hard rock crowd! Black tie crowd. Look at the silver haired guy sitting behind Elton, he had a "I don't get this sh*t" look on his face every time and only stood up at the end because everyone else did!

I love how James the second the song is over turns to Elton with the biggest smile and gives him a couple of blown kisses.

One of the best voices but energy wasn’t there, weird not the way he usually performs…seems under whelming and uninspiring

Somehow, listening to and watching this performance is totally moving. By the time it reaches the middle section arrangement leading to that solo, I jumped up from my seat. Damn! Thats Metallica at thier best!

There are so many music snobs who should take note that the bands they love are not music snobs themselves and appreciate all great music. Not just in their own genre. I am guessing that Elton John's high praise of Metallica's song, Nothing Else Matters, is why they were invited to surprise Elton John with this amazing performance.
